IT HAS FINALLY HAPPENED, IT HAS FINALLY HAPPENED! I went to see the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie and I must say it was FANTASTIC!
Now for all of you folks outside who are wondering "is this another Harry Potter movie?" Yes, yes it is. But is not a continuation of the previous movies. "Are we going to see Dumbledore?" Hell yes! But is young Dumbledore, not old Dumbledore. "Is this what happened after the last movie?" No, mate. This is not what happens after the last movie. See, this movie talks about Newt Scamander, the author of the book Harry and his magical friends at Hogwarts study with. Here's some things you need to know before watching the movie:
1. Fantastic Beast is a complete reset We've left Harry, Hogwarts, England and even modern times behind. In this movie, we follow Newt Scamander as he arrives in 1926 to New York with a suitcase full of magical creatures. Almost immediately, we meet his new Americans companions: Tine Goldstein (a worker from Magical Congress of the United States, a.k.a MACUSA), her bonnie sister Queenie, and an aspiring baker with absolutely no magical powers (muggle in Newt's England, No-Maj in America's).
2. You should know how Gellert Grindelwald is
For all of you who don't quite remember who he is, here's a backstory: Grindelwald was the big bad wizard before Lord Voldemort came along is the wizarding world. He and Albus Dumbledore were quite friends and he wanted to find the Deathly Hallows and lead a wizarding revolution to rule muggles.
WARNING
I want to point out that I will be making a no-spoiler section and a spoiler section, so if you don't want to be spoiled, I suggest you go ahead and read the next few paragraphs but beware of the free-spoiler-section ending. For your attention and comprension, thank you.
Now, being that set, let's move one, shall we? It was really amazing when at the very precious end, it said that the screenplay was written by The Queen, also known as J.K. Rowling! Not J.K. Rowling and two other people, just J.K. ROWLING. I also appreciate loads that J.K. Rowling did these movies for all those folks who grew up with Harry Potter. You know what was just as amazing? That Johnny Deep played Grindelwald's character! For Merlin's beard! I'm really looking forward to seeing the epic bad-ass duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald! Those two had a thing going on between each other, and just the way things end up for both of them... Oh, God, Oh, God... If you hadn't seen the movie you should definitely go and watch it. Right now. The characters are so incredibly lovely. Especially Jacob Kowalski, he surely was a damn cute, funny character. Queenie is actually one of those characters who people tend to underestimate and she uses that as an advantage, and I really, really, liked that about her. Tina is such a way to go character! I liked her since I first saw her, probably because she's an Auror or because she helped Newt Scamander a lot... dunno... And speaking of which: let's talk about Newt, can we? I totally loved him. I'm not a Hufflepuff myself but I feel in duty to say that he's such a cute, great and very talented Hufflepuff character!
Again, if you hadn't seen this wonderful movie, go and watch it.
There're so many incredible creatures in Newt's suitcase! Just the suitcase is totally awesome! See Newt's not carrying a normal, muggle-fashioned suitcase. Oh, no, no, no. He's carrying this totally freaking amazing thing in which all types of different creatures live, and not just that, but they have their own ecosystem! There's the wind on one side, and rain in the other. You can see a lake right here and a mountain over there... it's the coolest thing ever! I totally liked that they dedicated a whole scene in the movie to show us what was in the suitcase. 10 point to J.K Rowling for that!
We get to see so many incredible creatures like this cool erumpent (it's a hippopotamus-looking beast that's also mentioned by Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter books), and the occamy (a plumed, two-legged serpentine-bodied creature with wings that may grow or shrink in order to fit available space) that was, perhaps, if not my favorite, at least the second one. There's also this monkey-like demiguise that can turn itself invisible, and a niffler, oh, geez, the niffler! The niffler was my favorite creature! For some random reason, it reminded me a lot of Perry the platypus from Phineas and Ferb.
Problems arrive, problems need to be solved. This movie sets a great beginning for the next four movies that are coming, and if you're not a Harry Potter fan yourself because of some stupid reason you didn't enjoy the past movies (haven't met anyone with that issue, though), you can fell free and watch this movie. J. K. Rowling did a magnificent job by letting see a little more of the wizarding adults. We didn't have this in Harry Potter and is a total fresh air.
So that's it for no the no-spoiler section. I hoped you liked it!
*END OF NO-SPOILER SECTION*
Well, hellooo! In case you have not noticed, you are reading the spoiler section, so if you don't want to be spoiled, stop reading. But, if you have already watched the movie or you don't mind being spoiled, we must have a little chat.
Let's talk about Jacob, can we? I don't know about you, but I totally loved him. Jacob was such a cool kick-side character, I found myself waiting for him to laugh just like only he did or to say a random stupid but smart thing. And at the end? When they had to oblivated him? I couldn't believe it. Whyyyy? Couldn't he just pretend that what he lived along with Newt and the others never happened? Couldn't he? Couldn't they just say they had oblivated him when they actually didn't? It's so not fair! Remember that part when Queenie asks him if all muggles are like him and Jacob says: "No. There's no one like me"? Or when he admits to Newt that he no longer thinks he's dreaming, and a Newt says: "What gave it away?", and then Jacob replies: "I ain't got the brains to make this up", oohh, God, those were the good, old days...
Now, let's talk about the president of MACUSA. Was I the only one who hated that sick bitch? I mean, I didn't like her. At. All. I have this feeling in my chest and I just don't trust her. I don't. I hated when she took Newt's suitcase and didn't even bother to listen to a single thing he was trying to say to her.
Speaking of Newt, I LOVED HIM. I loved him and his British accent. I put it in caps cause he deserves it. He honestly does. I never thought a Hufflepuff could be so damn amazing! You know which were my favorite parts? When he's talking with Tina about his past and then Queenie says that Ilvermorny is the best magical school, and Newt's like: "er... no. Actually the best magical school is Hogwarts" TOTALLY LOVED IT! Oh, oh! And when Percival Graves (a.k.a as undercover Grindelwald) asks him why does he have that makes Dumbledore so found of him? OH. MY. GOD. We al know Grindelwald and Dubledore had a thing between each other, but, I mean, what doesn't he have? He has brains, and beauty, and magic, and he's kind and brave! iyugdygsahk #TheFeelingsAreReal
Speaking of that scene, what the heck has a Lestrange (Slytherin) to do with a Hufflepuff? WHAT? Can somebody tell me cause I'm still freaked out! I did not expect that. Never in a million years. I'm really looking forward to discovering what is this all about.
You know what other part was equally as great? When Newt's suitcase is opened and the erumpent escapes and Newt has got to do this awkward and funny dance in order to make the erumpent go back inside the suitcase. Oh, god. I laugh my ass out in that part.
And the ending? OH, GOD. My heart stopped beating. I DIED. What was your reaction? Did you also die? Comment down below what was your reaction and what are your thoughts on the movie. Did you like it? Did it fulfill your expectations? Did it not? I'm Lídice, thanks for reading, see ya next time!
