A Game Of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

Hey, how’s it going guys! Now, for the last entry of the month, guess what? I’m gonna write about the top priority on my tbr list I uploaded a while ago now, that’s right (in case you’ve already read it, and if not I’m about to tell you), I’m talking about the great epic called Game of Thrones, just an amazing book is saying little, and as I know most of you have already heard this book is just the first part of the amazing saga “Song of Ice and Fire” wrote by the amazingly genius George R.R. Martin, this book is so amazing it even got itself an amazing TV series which I’m pretty sure a vast majority of you already know, this book is so amazing it has managed to keep its story alive for about twenty years, ain’t that impressive? I say it is and my opinion is the only thing that matters right now! No, jokes aside, it really is an amazing book with a really compelling story I recommend to you all, that if you haven’t read it by this point, which is weird, but don’t worry, I’m no one to judge since I just finished it, aaaand as always after a little introduction to the review goes a litle plot writing, and here it is:

We are placed on the fictional country of Westeros, home of The Seven Kingdoms, all of them ruled by the king Robert Baratheon and his hand ser Jon Arryn, but then it all goes to hell, when the king's hand dies from mysterious causes that will be explored later in the book (that's all I'm saying since I want to make this thing as Spoiler-free as possible), and it is because of this that king Robert comes to the decision of "honoring" one of our main characters and one of his old friends that helped him get to the throne, lord Eddard "Ned" Stark with such title, transforming him into the new hand, which is not really an honor, is just making the king's dirty work when he's unable to, this decision brings uncomfortable changes and situations, not only for lord Eddard, but for his family as well, his daughters Sansa and Arya, his sons Robb, Brann and Rickon, His bastard son Jon and his wife Catelyn, things I'm not gonna be specific on, but rest assured, they're anything but pretty. Meanwhile, across the ocean, on another continent called Essos, in the city-state of Pentos lies an unknown threat for The Seven Kingdoms and it's rulers, the brothers Viserys and Daenerys Targaryen, the only survivors from the Targaryen house who were once the rulers of Westeros, the rulers of The Seven Kingdoms, and now, Viserys, the one brother that does remember what having power was like wants it back, and there s nothing he won't do to accomplish his new mission, not even trading his sister for an army, big and savage enough to dominate any house that stands in his way.

So that was me explaining the plot of Game of Thrones, I know it was a bit short for such a story with all of its incredible twists and other... +18 stuff? but hey, I kept spoiler-free didn't I, at least I think so. Anywho, I can really tell it is an incredible book, and a really torturous one, really, you're gonna want to cry when you read it, I mean, it seems like the characters can't get a break, from the second the announcement of Jon Arryn's death becomes public and it all goes to hell is torture, torture and more torture, like, you could make torture a sub-genre because of this book, "A Game of Thrones" the book for masochists from a very perturbed and sick sadomasochist, nah, I'm just kidding, there's also some room to breathe a little bit, some heart-warming moments that I found myself enjoying very much, at least until the torture started again.

Game of Thrones is a really interesting a realistic take on what the world would be if we still worked as a monarchy, and geography was a little off, and there was magic, putting aside the magic thing, the interesting part of the book comes from it's well crafted and complex story, the realistic part comes from the characters psychology, for example, there's Sansa, a well-mannered girl, acting as how she's supposed to, like a perfect lady, and then there's Arya, the rebel one, breaking all of the stereotypes you can possibly think of, and even more, total opposites, right?, yet related to each other, just like real life, at least my life, cause that's basically the relationship I've got with my sister, and this exact same point I'm making right here we can see once again on the sick relationship between Viserys and Daenerys, now finishing my point but following the messed up brothers relationships, what the shit is with Cersei and Jaime Lannister? that thing is fucked up, I'm sorry but I don't want to call that a relationship, I want to call it anything but relation, of any type, that thing is sick, and perverted, and wrong in so many ways and levels, whoever thought of that thing (George) has a very dirty and disturbing mind I don´t want to get inside of, of course once you get over all of the incest, and murder, and torture, and all of the sadness combined with a little bit of rage because of all the freacking betrayals, you get to find a really interesting and awesome book I wouldn't deny my worst enemy the pleasure to read.

QUOTES

And as always I'll leave right here some quotes from the book just to fill some space:

Tyrion to Jon:-Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.

Tyrion to Jon: -Remember this, boy. All dwarfs are bastards, yet not all bastards need be dwarfs-And with that he turned and sauntered back into the feast, whistling a tune. When he opened the door, the light from within threw his sadow clear across the yard, and for just a moment Tyrion Lannister stood tall as a king.

Shaga: -How would you like to die, little man?

Tyrion. -In my bed, at the age of eighty with a belly full of wine and a woman's mouth around my cock

Eddard: -If you would take a man’s life, you owe it to him to look into his eyes and hear his final words. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the man does not deserve to die.

Rating: 5/5
